Description

The set up is capable to study the loading and floodingcharacteristics. It is a packed column packed with Rasching Rings where the Air is counter currently fed tothe column. Liquid holdup in the column increases theweight of column and also reduces the effective porosityof packing. This reduction in porosity decreases the gasvelocity, increases the pressure drop and changes thevalue of mass transfer co-efficient. The water is fed fromthe top of the column and loading &floodingcharacteristic are observed on various flow rates of Airand Water. The apparatus is closed circuit type providedwith suitable capacity tank, pump, necessary pipe lineswalls&rotametres for water & air to measure the flowrate of fluids.
