Description

The basic data of any distillation problem are theequilibrium between the liquid and vapour phases of thesystem subjected to distillation. Hence is of greatimportance to study the vapour-liquid equilibrium. Theset-up consists of distillation still with a heating element.An electrical Dimmerstat is connected to heating elementfor varying heat input. The vapours form the top ofcolumn are condensed in the shell and tube typecondenser by circulating cooling water. The condensate iscollected in reflux drum and feedback to column asreflux. A tank with pump is provided to circulate coldwater to condenser. Flow rates can be regulated throughcontrol valve fitted. Instrumentation is provided tomeasure the temperatures at different points.
