Description

Crystallization is the formation of solid particles within ahomogeneous phase of saturated liquid. Its wide use hasa two-fold basis, a crystal formed from an impure solutionis itself pure and crystallization affords a practical methodof obtaining pure chemical substances in a satisfactorycondition for packing and storing. This operation involvesboth heat and mass transfer. Cooling type agitated batchcrystallizer set up consists of an open jacketed stirredvessel provided with water heating &coolingarrangement. The feed is prepared in the crystallizer itselfwith hot water and stirrer. The hot saturated solution inthe crystallizer is then cooled by circulation of coolingwater and crystals are formed.
