Description

FIELD DYNAMOMETER) The present set-up is designed to study characteristics ofa given reciprocating pump. The reciprocating pump iscoupled to a swinging frame type DC Motor whichpermits direct torque measurement with the help of aspring balance. A speed control arrangement facilitatesthe end user to operate the reciprocating pump atdifferent speeds. To calculate the input power to themotor, an energy meter is provided. A RPM Indicator with Proximity sensor indicates the RPM of Pump. Present setupis self-contained water re-circulating unit, providedwith a sump tank, reciprocating pump etc. Water ispumped by means of reciprocating pump and passingthrough the pipeline, it returns back to the sump whichmake the system re-circulating type. Flow of water isdiverted either to measuring tank or sump tank with themeans of a flow diverter, when needed. Control valvesand Pressure gauges are fitted in suction and dischargeline of the reciprocating pump to conduct theexperiments on different head and flow. Flow rate ofwater is measured with the help of measuring tank withpiezometer and stopwatch. The supplied set-up iscomplete in all respect. Only water supply and electricitysupply is to be provided by the end user for running theset-up.
