Description

The present set-up is designed to study characteristics ofa given reciprocating pump. The reciprocating pump iscoupled to the motor with the help of belt and pulleyarrangement. The step cone pulley arrangementfacilitates the end user to operate the reciprocating pumpat three prefixed speeds. An arrangement to select thespeed, by changing the belt position on pulley, has beenprovided. To calculate the input power to the motor, anenergy meter is provided. A RPM Indicator with Proximitysensor indicates the RPM of Pump. Present set-up is self-containedwater re-circulating unit, provided with a sumptank, reciprocating etc. Water is pumped by means ofreciprocating pump and passing through the pipeline, itreturns back to the sump which make the system recirculatingtype. Flow of water is diverted either tomeasuring tank or sump tank with the means of a flowdiverter, when needed. Control valve and Pressuregauges are fitted in suction and discharge line of thereciprocating pump to conduct the experiments ondifferent head and flow. Flow rate of water is measuredwith the help of measuring tank with piezometer andstopwatch. The supplied set-up is complete in all respect.Only water supply and electricity supply is to be providedby the end user for running the set-up.
