Description

FIELD DYNAMOMETER) The present set-up is designed to study characteristics ofa given gear pump. The gear pump is coupled to aswinging frame type DC Motor which permits directtorque measurement with the help of a spring balance. Aspeed control arrangement facilitates the end user tooperate the gear pump at different speeds. To calculatethe input power to the motor, an energy meter isprovided. A RPM Indicator with Proximity sensor indicatesthe RPM of Pump.Present set-up is self-contained oil re circulating unit,provided with a sump tank, gear pump etc. Oil is pumpedby means of gear pump and passing through the pipeline,it returns back to the sump which make the system recirculatingtype. Flow of oil is diverted either tomeasuring tank or sump tank with the means of a flowdiverter, when needed. Control valves and Pressuregauges are fitted in suction and discharge line of the gearpump to conduct the experiments on different head andflow. Flow rate of oil is measured with the help ofmeasuring tank with piezometer and stopwatch. Thesupplied set-up is complete in all respect. Only oil supplyand electricity supply is to be provided by the end userfor running the set-up.
