Description

The present set-up is designed to study characteristics ofa given centrifugal pump. The centrifugal pump is coupledto DC motor. A speed control arrangement facilitates theend user to operate the centrifugal pump at differentspeeds. To calculate the input power to the motor, anenergy meter is provided. An RPM Indicator with Proximitysensor indicates the RPM of Pump. Present set-up is self containedwater re-circulating unit, provided with a sumptank, centrifugal pump etc. Water is pumped by means ofcentrifugal pump and passing through the pipeline, itreturns back to the sump which make the system recirculatingtype. Flow of water is diverted either tomeasuring tank or sump tank with the means of a flowdiverter, when needed. Control valves and Pressuregauges are fitted in suction and discharge line of thecentrifugal pump to conduct the experiments on differenthead and flow. Flow rate of water is measured with thehelp of measuring tank with piezometer and stopwatch.The supplied set-up is complete in all respect. Only watersupply and electricity supply is to be provided by the enduser for running the set-up.
