Description

The present set-up is designed to study characteristics ofa given centrifugal pump. The centrifugal pump is coupledto the motor with the help of belt and pulleyarrangement. The step cone pulley arrangementfacilitates the end user to operate the centrifugal pumpat three prefixed speeds. An arrangement to select thespeed, by changing the belt position on pulley, has beenprovided. To calculate the input power to the motor, anenergy meter is provided. A RPM Indicator with Proximitysensor indicates the RPM of Pump. Present set-up is self-containedwater re-circulating unit, provided with a sumptank, centrifugal pump etc. Water is pumped by means ofcentrifugal pump and passing through the pipeline, itreturns back to the sump which make the system recirculatingtype. Flow of water is diverted either tomeasuring tank or sump tank with the means of a flowdiverter, when needed. Control valve and Pressuregauges are fitted in suction and discharge line of thecentrifugal pump to conduct the experiments on differenthead and flow. Flow rate of water is measured with thehelp of measuring tank with piezometer and stopwatch.The supplied set-up is complete in all respect. Only watersupply and electricity supply is to be provided by the enduser for running the set-up.
