Description
An isothermal semi-batch reactor is a semi-closed systemwith one input stream. It is operated under conditionslike Isothermal (Temperature of Reaction Mass remainsconstant) and perfectly mixed (composition of reactionmixture is uniform throughout). This set-up is used tostudy a non-catalytic homogeneous reaction underisothermalcondition.The set up consists of a Reactor fitted in a constanttemperature water bath. Before starting the reaction thereactor is charged with measured quantity of onereactant. From a feed tank another reactant is fed to thereactor. Using a sampling pipette samples can be takenout for analysis after fixed interval. Rotameter is providedto measure the flow of Chemical. The compressed air isused for circulation of feed. One stirrer is fitted for mixingthe reactants in reactor and other is fitted in water bathto keep the uniform temperature throughout in the bath.The temperature of bath can be maintained fromambient to 70ºC with the help of Digital Temperatureindicator Cum Controller. Pressure Regulator, Pressure Gauge and Safety Valve are fitted in the compressed airline.
